Ahhh….it’s good to be back in the States! The Canada run was long, cold, and the people at Starbucks are mean.
In mid-October we started our second U.S. leg in New Jersey. They decided to shoot a video for the Chili Pepper’s new song “Snow” during the concert. It was pretty crowded in the pit where I run camera from….Three of our guys and about 6 of the video film crew’s guys. I actually just saw it the other day and it is really funny – a lot of our crew’s big mugs made it into the video – but not me. Well, a lot of my camera work made it and I’m sure if you recorded it and paused it you could see a little black insignificant dot at the front of the stage in front of the lead singer – that would be me – the black dot of insignificance.
If you have a chance, check it out on MTV!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B110I0WalLo
Here’s where this part of the tour gets really good. If you ever want to make a month fly by, I highly recommend taking a 5 day vacation to Maui right in the middle of your tour!!!!!!
Some very dear friends of mine had planned to get married in Maui on October 26.
Well it just so happened that if I missed one show, I could have 5 days off in a row and make it to the wedding – so after some intense wheeling and dealing with bosses, co-workers and airlines, that’s just what I did!
I flew from Philadelphia – Dallas – Maui (11 hours).
I attended the wedding the next day and then spent the next 2 unbelievable days snorkeling,
swimming, boating
and partying with the big group of friends who also flew over for Jason and Leah’s wedding.
I then flew from Maui - Honolulu (where I saw Hulk Hogan in the airport!!) - Columbus, Ohio (8 hours) and went straight from the plane to load in the show. And it was absolutely worth every yawn and all the bags under my eyes! As my friend Evan demonstrates - the people who live on Maui definitely have it figured out!!!
On a side note - I'm not sure who this picture was taken of, but I agree - I, too, Love Maui! And I would love to display my emotion as 'well' as this girl does - but, alas, I don't have quite the nice billboard, ya know? Aloha!
I forgot to add...I made it back to the tour just in time to celebrate Halloween. As you can see, the Front Of House guys were really into it, dressing as a Swedish Bikini Team. Wow. Some days are really funny out here!
